You have the power to control your fear when you understand how to face it.

In the immortal words of the late President of the United States–John F. Kennedy “There is nothing to fear but fear itself” we must understand, in the light of those words–that we are not placed upon this planet to live in fear. Fear is a paralyzer and a prison which is largely self imposed.

How can fear harm your life?

Fear is something that you think about and make emotional decisions about before an event even occurs. Most people worry twice and that is a time waster and a freedom taker as well. So, why worry twice? Worry when something occurs if you absolutely have to. You can conquer this when you learn to control your fear.

Worry is in bed with fear and are basically one and the same because when you are worried–you are fearful of an event that you feel is pending. So, how does fear harm your life? It gives you an illusory feeling of dread towards your goals and your dreams and whatever you decide to do. It brings negative energy and feelings you don’t need. And worst of all, it makes you over analytical and it makes you second guess your decisions.

Fear makes you hyper aware of risks–most being unfounded and then you act on it–or rather–you don’t do anything just for the sake of being “safe” all the time.

So how do you control your fear and not let it control you?

The hard line to take on fear may kick you out of your comfort zone but you will also be stronger and more bold and living life more completely. One of the ways to do this is to “feel the fear and do it anyway”. This seems very simple and it is–most things that lead to solutions are never really hard–but we perceive them to be.

The way you do this is you choose something that you fear–admit you feel this way and then as the Nike company says– “Just Do It”. Now of course–there is one caveat and that is this. Don’t choose something if it is not going to mean anything in your life. In other words–for example–if you are afraid of going back to school–then suck it up and do it anyway because it will impact your future. But if you are afraid to do something that may kill you–maybe then you have the right to feel scared–and shouldn’t do it. So, make sure it is important to you and don’t just do something for the sake of doing it because you were scared–get it?

So how do you control your fear? You exit the comfort zone!
